NBA 2K21 How To Unlock The City Guide

Everything you need to know!

NBA 2K21 The City

The next-gen iteration of NBA 2K21 is finally available for Xbox Series S, X, and PlayStation 5. In recent months there had been some controversy over the surcharge of this new look of the game with which we had already got to know on the old-gen platforms. 2K justified itself by explaining that the increase is because of various new contents. Now that I have the game on hand, I can finally tell you about these contents. Below you will find my complete NBA 2K21 how to unlock The City guide.

Among the various recent additions to Visual Concepts’ annual basketball blockbuster, it is The City that stands out the most. The City represents the latest evolution of The Neighborhood of the previous chapters of the saga. The latter mode allowed players to engage in various multiplayer activities and was part of “My Career”. This time, however, entering The City will be more challenging than entering the old Quarter. You will see how to do it shortly, but first a few important details.

MORE THAN JUST AN UPDATE

NBA 2K21 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 undoubtedly seemed to me a good step forward on what the other chapters had already done previously. Now, however, NBA 2K21 has arrived on the new platforms and immediately software houses and publishers have pointed out the fact that it is not a simple graphic update of the game.

Although the title of Visual Concepts is actually stunning from a visual point of view on the new hardware, there is much more to talk about on the content front. For starters, the new version of the game introduces the ability to create a WNBA athlete in the character editor. 2K and Visual Concepts reported that the community had clamored for this possibility and therefore took the opportunity of the next-gen release to propose this novelty.

In addition, on the Xbox Series S, X, and PlayStation 5 there are specific activities to complete. These are particular challenges and goals, for example, the first of these will ask you to score 72 points against the Chicago Bulls team of 1996. Completing these tough challenges grants you exclusive rewards as clothing items for your Player. There have also been some revisions to the general gameplay.

In this case, the most significant change is in the way the game handles Pro Stick controllers. With the next generation consoles, you have much more control over the shooting trajectory, and the speed of your stick will now control the trajectory of your jump shot. Slow gestures will give you high trajectories, while fast gestures will make your shots flat. Let’s see now how to unlock The City in NBA 2K21.

HOW TO UNLOCK THE CITY

At this point you are wondering just how to unlock The City in NBA 2K21. This is actually very simple! To get started, you must first enter MyCareer mode. Here you will create your own NBA player by going through the intro segments. At some point, you should come to a menu where you can choose whether to play the next match and more. If you scroll down on this menu, you should see an option to go to The City, but you won’t be able to enter yet.

The option will take you to a new area with four asphalted fields that you can play on. You cannot enter the City until you join an affiliation. This requires you to reach a certain My REP score in the game. You’ll start with Rookie I, with the need to reach Pro I to get noticed. At this point you will receive an affiliation proposal and then you can finally enter the City.

After starting Rookie I, you need to increase your rank a few levels, with Rookie II and Rookie III before you get to Pro I. The only way to increase your level in this case is to take part in various matches on the asphalt. There are three 3v3 fields, while they divide the fourth field into two 1v1zones.

Winning matches will certainly give you more My REP points to update your ranking, but you will notice that it’s difficult to always win depending on your teammates and the opponents you encounter. However, if you perform well even in case of defeat, you will still get some points (obviously much less than the victorious outcome).

Your job is really to keep grinding until you get good matchups to win and get the points that way. This is essentially all you need to know about how to unlock The City in NBA 2K21. Once you reach Pro I rank, the game will let you know that you can choose an affiliation and enter the City now for the first time in NBA 2K21 on next-gen.
