It seems that NBC is willing to give an American version of The IT Crowd another go. The cult British hit centered around two awkward IT men and their ineffective female manager originally had an American pilot produced back in 2007. Despite the best efforts of Joel McHale as Roy and Richard Ayoade reprising his role as Moss, the pilot was never picked up. There are numerous reasons, but one can’t help but feel it had something to do with the pilot being way too close to the original script of the first UK episode. It was, after all, the same reason the German version was such a dud. But NBC is willing to put that mishap behind them as they proceed with a new pilot developed by Scrubs writers Bill Lawrence, Neil Goldman and Garrett Donovan. One hopes that they’ll at least be able to generate some new material into this second take rather than just copying the same scripts from the UK version.
