Need for Speed Rivals Not Coming to Wii U Due to Most Wanted’s Low Sales

<p>For those of you looking forward to playing <em>Need for Speed Rivals<&sol;em> on your Wii U &&num;8211&semi;perhaps to see what unique features it&&num;8217&semi;ll have&&num;8211&semi; you may have a long wait in store for you&comma; as <em>Rivals<&sol;em> is skipping the platform due to <em>Need for Speed&colon; Most Wanted&&num;8217&semi;s<&sol;em> lack of sales on the system&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><a href&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;www&period;thesixthaxis&period;com&sol;2013&sol;10&sol;18&sol;weak-sales-reason-for-need-for-speed-rivals-skipping-wii-u-and-ps-vita&sol;">The Sixth Axis<&sol;a> spoke to the game&&num;8217&semi;s Creative Director&comma; Craig Sullivan&comma; and asked him about the lack of Wii U and PS Vita versions of the game&comma; in contrast to when <em>Most Wanted<&sol;em> managed to make its way to the Wii U&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Sullivan&&num;8217&semi;s explanation on the matter amounts to a low amount of sales resulting from all the work and people they had working on <em>Most Wanted&&num;8217&semi;s<&sol;em> Wii U version&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&&num;8220&semi;It didn’t really sell that many&comma; in terms of the Wii U market&period; I would love for it to have&comma; because we put so much effort into that&comma; trust me&period; I’d love for it to be way bigger than it was&comma; and the same for the Vita&period;&&num;8221&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>In the case of <em>Rivals<&sol;em>&comma; which is coming to Xbox 360&comma; PS3&comma; Xbox One and PS4&comma; the focus is being directed to the platforms where they&&num;8217&semi;ll sell better&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&&num;8220&semi;&lbrack;<em>Rivals<&sol;em>&rsqb; is going onto new hardware&comma; and you have to work out where you focus your efforts&comma;&&num;8221&semi; said Sullivan&period; &&num;8220&semi;The 200 people working on this game are only capable of making so much&comma; and doing so many different versions of the game&comma; so we had to go with where we think the biggest audience will be for the game&comma; and that’s where we are&period;&&num;8221&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Multiplatform titles tend to sell less on Nintendo platforms&comma; due to audience sizes and the different control setup&period; Despite the Wii U Gamepad being a controller we&&num;8217&semi;re used to&comma; but with a screen in the middle&comma; people don&&num;8217&semi;t seem to want to play games like <em>Need for Speed<&sol;em> and <em>Call of Duty<&sol;em> on it&period; Unique controls&sol;features or not&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&lbrace;Source&colon; <a href&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;www&period;thesixthaxis&period;com&sol;2013&sol;10&sol;18&sol;weak-sales-reason-for-need-for-speed-rivals-skipping-wii-u-and-ps-vita&sol;">The Sixth Axis<&sol;a> via <a href&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;www&period;escapistmagazine&period;com&sol;news&sol;view&sol;128865-Developer-Need-For-Speed-Rivals-Not-Going-To-Wii-U-After-Low-Sales-Last-Time">The Escapist<&sol;a>&rcub;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
