This Christmas many Nintendo kids of all ages will be hoping to find the NES Classic Edition waiting under the tree.
Instead of releasing the NX this holiday season, the NES Classic will be launching in stores November 11th for $59.99. In the good ol’ days of cartridges and blowing away the dust may be behind for some as this edition of the NES will have a total of 30 classic games. Some of the franchises included are Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Super Mario Bros, and Kid Icarus.
Three display modes gives players a chance to experience (or re-experience) these classic games in different ways. Nintendo in their official press release stated:
“[w]ith the CRT filter, a scan-line effect is added to the screen to give everything that oh-so-retro look and feel. 4:3 is a sharp, clean look that adheres to the original aspect ratio used by the NES. And when playing in Pixel Perfect mode, every pixel is shown as a perfect square, providing the most accurate representation of the games as they were originally designed”.
Those who experienced the days of rushing home from school and starting up their NES to play Mario Bros. will have memories flooding back as they take up the included replica of the original NES controller. This controller will also be usable with the Wii U and Wii Virtual Console games. Unlike the first Nintendo Entertainment System, this time gamers can save their progress at any time through Suspend Points.
In case you are in need of some help with controls, all you will need to do is scan the QR-code on the screen with a smart device and then begin reading the original manual!
