Neverending Nightmares was previously only released on the PC, but Infinitap Games are now bringing it to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita later in the year. The “interactive experience” (as creative director Matt Gilgenbach calls it) is meant to simulate his struggles with mental illness. Specifically, the game focuses on depression and obsessive compulsive disorder with a dark art style.

Admittedly, a lot of people are probably going to be thrown off by the game’s design choices. It isn’t about winning, but instead focuses on making the player feel helpless – something which is the antithesis to most video games. Playing as Thomas, players will run through several nightmares that are part of a branching narrative which will share a lot of influence from David Lynch in how realistic the nightmares truly feel. Those branching moments have been tweaked for the PlayStation versions of the game to make it slightly more apparent when a choice is defining your experience.

Both the PlayStation 4 and Vita versions of Neverending Nightmares will run at 60 frames per second, with the PS4 version displaying at 1080p. Work has gone into the visuals to make them look better and ensure pixel accuracy.

Neverending Nightmares will make its way onto PS4 and Vita in the second quarter of 2016.
