New Details on Black Ops III DLC: Awakening

Activision has released further details for Call of Duty: Black Ops III Awakening, the first DLC pack for Black Ops III. The DLC will feature four new multiplayer maps and a new Zombies experience set in a medieval Austrian castle during World War II.

Since Black Ops III launched last month, the response from our community has been incredible in every way,” said Mark Lamia, Studio Head, Treyarch. “With Awakening, the studio is focused on creating a wide variety of gameplay experiences for our fans in Multiplayer and Zombies that will keep players coming back for more.”

Der Eisendrache (the new Zombies experience) will feature Origin characters Richtofen, Nicolai, Takeo, and Dempsey in (of course) an eerie castle that contains massive deposits of Element 115, which will lead to plot twists and surprises galore.

The four multiplayer maps to be included in Black Ops III are:

– Gauntlet, which will integrate Treyarch’s classic three-lane map structure to create a variety of visuals and gameplay. Each of the three lanes will have its own unique environment, including a sprawling jungle, an arctic zone, and an atmospheric, rainy cityscape.

– Splash, which is set in an abandoned water theme park. The park will gives players a very different sort of terrain and environment, complete with waterslides, a wrecked pirate ship, and a ‘forgotten city.’ The map is meant to have an open flow of combat, with many opportunities for underwater skirmishes.

– Rise, which is a Coalescence Corporation construction project of a subterranean research campus tucked away in the snowy outskirts of Zurich. The design of this map is meant to mix the classic cover combat style with core movement opportunities, with each section of the map presenting new obstacles to be overcome with strategy.

– Skyjacked, Skyjacked is the reimagined version of the popular map from Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Hijacked. In keeping with Hijacked, the map will have the fast gameplay associated with its predecessor, but it will also have a twist.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III Awakening will be released on the 2nd of February for the PlayStation 4 with other next-gen platform availability to follow, and the DLC pack is available now at a discounted rate as part of the Call of Duty: Black Ops III Season Pass.
