Paul Feig, director of the comedy Bridesmaids and The Heat, is already confirmed to direct the new Ghostsbusters and it looks like he’s bringing a familiar face on for the screenplay. Katie Dippold, writer on The Heat, will be writing the movie with Feig. Paul confirmed the news on his Twitter account with this tweet:
It’s official. I’m making a new Ghostbusters & writing it with
@katiedippold & yes, it will star hilarious women. That’s who I’m gonna call.
This seems like a logical progression given that Feig does plan to add in a female Ghostbuster. It makes sense that he’d want to have one of his own on his past female-oriented comedies. Also, given their two previous films, one has to wonder if that one female Ghostbuster will be Melissa McCarthy. Nothing is confirmed yet, but I am starting to see pattern here. No word yet either on how their ideas will relate to the previous Ghostbusters movies.
