New Shadow of the Colossus Gameplay and Details

After teasing the gaming world with the Shadow of the Colossus remake at E3 2017, Sony showed off some more of the game at their Paris Games Week presentation. The remake is so much more than the slight HD bump that was seen in the Ico and Shadow of the Colossus collection that was released on the PlayStation 3, and the new trailer shows how much more of a remake it is. Bluepoint are handling the remake and it looks like they are completely nailing it.

First things first, we won’t have to wait too much longer to get our hands on this shiny new updated version of the game. It is set for a February 6th release, meaning the first part of 2018 will give PlayStation 4 players Monster Hunter World, Shadow of the Colossus and God of War shortly after. If you’re an action-gamer, it really doesn’t get much better than that. Also, it is being released at a very generous price point of $39.99 USD, so check the pricing in your country, because it’s looking like it’ll be a steal of a deal. Last and most important is how the game will run. On a regular PS4 the game will run at 30 fps, in 1080p, however on the PS4 Pro, the game can either run at 4k and 30fps, or at 1080p and 60fps. Regardless of what the frame rate is, the game looks to run very smooth and the visuals are looking drop dead gorgeous, in what will probably amount to a stellar remake of a PlayStation classic.

Sony already has a lot on their plate to offer players and a new version of Shadow of the Colossus probably wasn’t needed, but will be gladly welcomed. The game was a hit when it came out over a decade ago, and it will be great to play the game and experience those epic fights all over again. As long as Bluepoint keeps up the work they’ve been doing, this looks like a title to keep your eyes on. Now, how long until we see a remake of Ico on the PS4?
