New Yu-Gi-Oh! Film Confirmed for Release in 2016

Yu-Gi-Oh!

Yu-Gi-Oh! will be heading back to cinemas in a brand-new feature film in 2016, the special Japanese teaser website, yugiohmovie.jp, has revealed.

Last week, the website, which was set up to mark the 20th anniversary of the renowned franchise, featured the silhouettes of the two main characters from the original series — Yugi Muto and Seto Kaiba — and a countdown timer ticking down until the reveal.

Seto Kaiba, Yugi’s fierce rival and CEO of the gaming corporation KaibaCorp, stands alongside Yugi in the uncovered image on the website (see the featured image above), and the film is set to tell an all-new story with characters from the original animated TV show.

From examining the image closer, Yugi is without his famous Millennium Puzzle, an ancient Egyptian item that contained the soul of a pharaoh, Yami (AKA Atem), meaning the story for the forthcoming film may take place following the end of the TV show.

Yu-Gi-Oh! The King, the rumored name of the film, is scheduled for release in cinemas in 2016.
