News – Mega Man Universe is No More, Says Capcom

All Development on Mega Man Universe has ceased and Capcom has officially cancelled the game amid a cloud of secrecy. The news broke late last night on Mega Man’s official website. Capcom did not go into any further detail on the matter, nor did it provide a reason for the overt and suspicious cancellation. Leaving many to wonder if more insidious things are in play.

Mega Man was set for a release this year and was suppose to be available on Xbox Live Arcade and the Playstation Network (PSN) for download. The game was a melding between the old side-scrolling 2D Mega Man look and a new more current 3D look with customizable characters and the option to create your own unique levels.

This news is surely going to upset a lot of Mega Man fans who for the past decades have enjoyed over 50 titles of this popular 2D platform game. Mega Man is most definitely the most consistent and wildly sought after title of the gaming industry. All we can hope for is that a clarification will be offered by Capcom and maybe followed up by some better news. Until then I’m sticking to my theory that the game was scraped under suspicious and insidious means.
