We reported yesterday that Valve was working on a few DLC packs for Portal 2. We assumed it would be weeks before more details would surface but we were wrong. Last night Valve confirmed that Portal 2 DLC pack #1 will be available for download this summer for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC/Mac (Steam). The best news is that Portal 2 DLC pack #1 will cost nothing for all Portal 2 owners.
We also learned that the Portal 2 DLC pack #1 will add new test chambers for players, a challenge mode for singleplayer and multiplayer mode, leaderboards for score tracking, and more yet to be announced features.
Valve did not however confirm whether future DLC packs will be free. Time will tell.
