Playstation 3 customers who have paid subscription services like Playstation Plus and DC Universe Online have been wondering aloud since the PSN outage whether they would be refunded their money now that their services are no longer accessible. It appears that in light of the ongoing outage Sony may be considering doing just that.

This was posted on Sony’s Official FAQ page about the Outage:

—————————————————————————————————–

I want my money back (subscription fee, content) since the PSN/Qriocity was not available.

“While we are still assessing the impact of this incident, we recognize that this may have had financial impact on our loyal customers. We are currently reviewing options and will update you when the service is restored.”

———————————————————————————

In related news the Playstation Network is still down since the hacker attack on April 20, 2011 crippled it. It was also learned today that the PSN hackers may have had access to millions of Playstation 3 and PSP customer’s personal information, including sensitive credit card information. This of course leaves many PS3 users at risk of identity theft and other credit implications and Sony with the possibility of facing legal action.

Update: We learned early today that a class action lawsuit has been filed against Sony over the PSN security breach. The lawsuit is seeking monetary compensation for the data loss and “loss of use of the Sony PlayStation Network, credit monitoring, and other relief according to proof”.
