We all remember Twisted Metal as an insane car combat game that kept us on our toes. But more importantly, Twisted Metal defined an entire generation of gaming. With seven installments already on the books, Twisted Metal is noted as the longest running Playstation exclusive title, lasting over fourteen years. But it’s been a while since we’ve seen a Twisted Metal release with the last major release being Twisted Metal: Head On: Extra Twisted Edition and that came out back in 2008 for the Playstation 2. It’s about time we saw an updated Twisted Metal with better graphics and more intensity.
Two nights ago on Spike TV Sony debuted just that, and with a three minute trailer they introduced the world to the 8th installment of the Twisted Metal series. Sony confirmed Twisted Metal will be exclusively released on the Playstation 3 and will hit stores nation-wide on October 4, 2011. Sources have also learned that the game was originally only suppose to be small time release for the Playstation Network but Sony pushed for it to be a full retail release instead. The trailer is very well crafted and the game has a large following. Making it a full release was probably the best bet commercially.
