Next Call of Duty Will Be Unveiled On May 4th

Activision will finally unveil the new Call of Duty on Sunday May 4th. The official website for Call of Duty has changed to a blurred out screen with a countdown at the top of the page. It’s hard to discern what the image is, but it looks like a soldier in the forefront with a smokey desolated landscape in the background.

Sledgehammer Games also tweeted out that “a new era” begins on May 4th. The official Call of Duty Twitter has also changed to get ready for the unveil. Previously the official Twitter had a photo of Call of Duty Ghosts, it now has a photo that looks like the Golden Gate Bridge.

Sledgehammer Games recently showed a sneak peak of their new Call of Duty game with an in-engine screen-shot. In addition, Activision also said earlier this year that the studios will be switching from a two year development cycle to a three year development cycle. It seems like Sledgehammer Games will be the first to show off what that extra time has allowed.

UPDATE: Game Informer will be revealing the details of the next installment of the Call of Duty franchise on Sunday, May 4, at 12pm CST over at GameInformer.com. Recently, they sent one of their feature editors down to the Sledgehammer studios to get the scoop on the latest version of Call of Duty. Their June issue will feature “twelve pages of exclusive and extensive details”. Below is what the cover of the magazine will look like.

ANOTHER UPDATE: Game Informer was bypassed and the name of the next Call of Duty installment has been leaked along with a brand new trailer and multiple details. Read our full update here.
