Today, T-Mobile announced that the Nexus 5 will be available starting November 14th online. The Android KitKat 4.4-powered Google handset will be available in its retail stores on November 20th.
“Why Google charges $350 for the Nexus 5 is a great question for them.”
T-Mobile representative
While T-Mobile did not reveal how much the 32GB model will cost, or any details at all about it, the 16GB model will set customers back $41.99 down, with a $17 per month quota for 24 months. In total, T-Mobile’s Nexus 5 will cost $449.99, though users should know that the 16GB model currently sells for $349.99 through Google, with the 32GB model going for $399.99.
So why does T-Mobile sell the Nexus 5 for $100 more? According to a T-Mobile representative, T-Mobile purchases the Nexus 5 from LG at full retail price, so even when the carrier sells it at $449.99, it does not make a profit with the hardware.
