Nintendo 3DS XL Announced

It seems like Nintendo forgot that E3 was a few weeks ago. They held yet another Nintendo Direct last night focused on the 3DS and Wii. A new, larger 3DS was announced along with some highly anticipated games.

The 3DS XL comes with 90 percent larger screens and will be available in Europe on July 28 and in North America on August 19. It will be available in silver + black, red + black and blue + black. The new system boasts better battery life of 3.5 to 6.5 hours while playing 3DS games and between six and 10 hours while playing DS games, compared to 3-5 hours and 5-8 hours respectively.

There have been reports that the Japanese and European versions will not come packaged with an AC adapter, but Nintendo has confirmed that the North American version will come with an AC adapter.

Something that seems to be missing from the new 3DS XL is a second analogue stick. It seems like Nintendo thinks gamers don’t need a second one for handheld gaming. What does that say about the circle-pad pro?
