Super Metroid, Nintendo

Nintendo has finally confirmed the existence of the SNES Classic Edition, as well as detailed when it will release and what games will be included. The NES Classic Edition was a huge hit for Nintendo and rumors have persisted that a Super Nintendo version would be coming out, and it’s actually sooner than anticipated.

Launching September 29 at a suggested retail price of $79.99 USD, the SNES Classic Edition will come with 21 games, as well as two wired controllers, an HDMI cable and a USB power cable. Also, the US version will have an AC Adaptor needed to plug the USB cable into power however the European version will not have a similar cable.

Here are the games included in the system:

The main title of interest here is Star Fox 2, which has never been released in the West. Also, the inclusion of Earthbound, Super Mario RPG, Final Fantasy III and Secret of Mana makes this system an RPG fan treasure trove. However, the inclusion of said games will also prove to make this game particularly popular to scalpers, if there wasn’t any doubt before, as those games are highly sought after as is on the secondary market. Hopefully, Nintendo is aware and will increase production a bit more than the NES Classic to make up for potential demand caused by those RPG classics*.

*Editor’s Note: Production will be significantly increased, according to word from Nintendo.

What do you think of the list? What games do you think are classics and needed to be included on the SNES Classic Edition, do you agree or disagree with Nintendo’s choices? Let us know below what you think and if you will be trying to get ahold of one come September.
