It has come to light that Nintendo of Europe is blocking access to 18+ rated content unless you decide that you want to download games such as ZombiU or Assassin’s Creed III between 23:00 – 2:00. This gives gamers who are hungry for adult-rated content a four-hour window to do their shopping.
This story originally came from a NeoGAF forum user who contacted Nintendo regarding an issue which he/she had regarding accessing content which was rated 18+ (The equivalent to “Adults Only 18+” in US). Nintendo then responded saying:
“Dear customer, we would like to let you know that Nintendo has always aimed to offer gameplay experiences suited to all age groups, observing carefully all the relevant regulations regarding content access that are present in the various European countries. We have thus decided to restrict the access to content which is unsuitable to minors (PEGI) to the 11 p.m.- 3 a.m. time window.”
What are your views regarding this? Is it right for Nintendo to have control such as this over its system which you have only just paid for? Let us know in the comments below!
