All three of Nintendo’s virtual marketplaces are due to shut up shop on Tuesday for scheduled maintenance. That means the 3DS eShop, DSi Shop and Wii Shop Channel will not be accepting customers at the checkouts from 10:00 PT to around 17:00 PT.

Many are believing that this could be due to Nintendo preparing itself for the introduction the rumored “Nintendo IDS account” which will allow you to link all of your Nintendo devices together to easily spread your eShop funds out between different consoles.

However, these (as always) are just guesses and it could end up being that Nintendo is simply preparing the Wii U store or online structure for their new console, due at the end of this month.

What would you like to see Nintendo do with its range of eShops? Should they update the appearance like Sony did recently with their virtual stores?
