<p>Nintendo have announced that they no longer expect to sell 5.5 million Wii U game consoles by the end of the financial year as well as achieving 24 million Wii U game sales.</p>
<p>These figures have been reduced to 4 million (consoles) and 16 million (games) whilst overall sales expectations have been reduced by 17.3 percent as the company now expects to make a loss in operating income.</p>
<p>Since the Wii U launched in November 2012, the company have shifted just 3.06 million Nintendo Wii U consoles and 11.69 million games with Nintendo Land being the most popular selling 2.33 million units and News Super Mario Bros. U selling 2.01 million units.</p>
<p>Nintendo made a comment regarding the changes it has made to its predictions:</p>
<p><i>&#8220;Owing to the fact that the Wii U hardware sales have a negative impact on Nintendo&#8217;s profits, the operating loss was 5.8 billion yen. A result of exchange gains totalling 22.2 billion yen due to the depreciation of the yen at the end of calendar year 2012, however, ordinary income was 22.7 billion yen and net income was 14.5 billion yen.&#8221;</i></p>
