Nintendo Just Hired a Guy Named Bowser

Psychologist Sigmund Freud claimed not to believe in coincidences, but sometimes there are times when the universe begs to disagree. Today’s news just might be one of those times.

In what may be the coincidences of coincidences, Nintendo’s announced that it’s hired Electronic Arts’s Doug Bowser as its Vice President of Sales. An EA veteran of over seven years, Bowser spent his time working in global planning and sales forecasting. His new role at Nintendo will have him overseeing the company’s North American retail sales as well as being involved with marketing for the Nintendo World Store in New York City.

We present to you the Bowser in question below.

New Nintendo VP of sales, Doug Bowser.

Now, we present you with that other Bowser:

Nintendo may be many things, but now it’s probably the only gaming company to hire anyone of its own characters’ namesake. We do not yet know which Bowser is the better golfer, racer, or tennis player, sadly.

What’s next? CEO Nathan Drake at Sony? COO Tidus Zanarkand at Square Enix? The sky (and the dictionary’s) the limit.
