A report from a recent edition of Nikkei, the Japanese business publication, is suggesting that Nintendo is preparing to bring eBooks to the Nintendo 3DS in Japan through a special service.

This may sound familiar and you are right in thinking so as back in 2008, Nintendo released a Nintendo DS game which featured one hundred classic books in Europe before bringing it to North America in 2010. Unlike this title however, Nikkei suggests that this will be an actual service where users can download eBooks instead of relying on a single cartridge for all their reading needs.

The service is initially planned to be limited to Japan and cover around three hundred titles with the majority focusing on titles aimed towards children.

Would you welcome this service?
