In a move which has shocked gamers around the globe, Nintendo have announced that they will not be delivering a traditional press conference at E3 this year whilst giving the limelight to both Sony and Microsoft to show off their next generation consoles.

Nintendo will still be present at the event however, instead relying on smaller events to showcase new titles and updates whilst holding closed events for American distributors to ensure that the company are still communicating effectively with retailers.

When discussing the situation of Nintendo not giving a presentation at E3 this year, Satoru Iwata said;
“During the E3 period, we will utilize our direct communication tools, such as Nintendo Direct, to deliver information to our Japanese audience… and we will take the same approach outside Japan for the overseas fans as well”.
