Nintendo opens “Camp Miiverse,” begins with Wii Sports Club challenge

Nintendo created a special “Camp Miiverse” community today, encouraging users of the social media platform to participate in virtual challenges. According to Tom, the man responsible for most of the service’s announcements, players can check back every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday over the next few weeks to find a different challenge taken from a specific Miiverse-enabled title. To take credit for the challenge, players will have to take a screenshot of the achievement in-game and post it to the title’s community.

Today’s challenge is to hit a home run in Wii Sports Club Baseball. After taking a picture of their accomplishment, players must choose from either a “Team Mario” or “Team Zelda” tag. The challenge runs until this Sunday, 7/20, at 11:59, so knock one out of the park while there’s still time — as Tom is quick to point out, Wii Sports Club is available as a free timed demo from the Nintendo eShop in case you haven’t purchased the full version yet.

It’s worth noting that the challenges posted every Monday and Wednesday will only be good that day only, while events posted on Friday will always run through the weekend. It’s certainly nice to see Nintendo engaging their faithful users, so hopefully plenty of Wii U and 3DS owners will participate as the weeks go on.

Will you be picking up your Wii U GamePad to swing for the fences this weekend? What other games would you like to see get the Camp Miiverse treatment, and what challenges would you pick from them? Let us know in the comments below!
