Nintendo have confirmed that the Wii U has been purchased 425,000 times in the first week of it being made available to purchase. For you fact fans out there, that is 5000 less than the original Wii console six in 2006.

In the duration of Black Friday, the Wii U sold 400,000 units so this is still an impressive figure seeing as it has increased by a considerable amount.

Does this spell success or failure for the new console in your opinion?
