For me, No Man’s Sky is my most-anticipated title for 2016. It feels like something that if done right could make a huge impact on video games as a whole. However, the release details have been sketchy for a while until a June 2016 release date was announced at Paris Games Week last year. Now we’re getting closer and closer to that June timeframe and the team at Hello Games have revealed that No Man’s Sky will launch on June 21, 2016 for PS4 and PC.
The ambitious title from Hello Games is also going to be getting a physical retail release, including the Explorer’s Edition which will be available for PC and will retail at $149.99 from iam8bit. This isn’t the only physical content No Man’s Sky will be getting as iam8bit has a lot of merchandise already available for pre-ordering including the soundtrack on LP.
The Limited Edition version of the game for PS4 will include a steelbook case, a 48-page artbook, an exclusive comic, some downloadable content to help start your exploration through space, and a dynamic PS4 theme. No Man’s Sky is being put up as one of the biggest releases up Sony’s sleeve, despite its exceptionally small team working on it. A physical release for a game of this scope isn’t that surprising, but when coupled with the size of Hello Games, this is cause for celebration. Indies getting put onto store shelves is a big way to blur the line between indie game and blockbuster.
No Man’s Sky will release on June 21, 2016 for PS4 and PC, and based on Steam and GOG prices, it will retail at $59.99.
