March 7th, 2018 marks the end of Northgard‘s Early Access period. The official release of the Viking strategy game includes a new campaign, adding to the currently available repertoire of six clans, along with additional single and multiplayer modes. It will be priced at €27.99 / $29.99 / £23.79 on Steam.

Northgard‘s added campaign follows the story of Rig across eleven chapters as he sets on a journey to avenge his father’s murder. He also plans to investigate the theft of the Regal Horn. This pursuit brings Rig into contact with Hagen, the thief, and Brand, Rig’s trustworthy friend. In typical video game fashion, this personal journey is reframed under the notion of a larger overarching threat.

Northgard‘s core systems involve building villages, managing resources, exploring, clan diplomacy, and engaging in tactical combat. The Norse mythological land littered with wyverns, giants, and undead warriors launched under the Steam Early Access program on February 22nd, 2017. Northgard has sold over 600,000 copies in the year since with continuous updates. This relentless development schedule resulted in three new clans, new units, new mythical beasts, a multiplayer mode with dedicated servers, and a range of smaller scale refinements/features.

The final Northgard release will allow the following:

Building a settlement on Northgard’s newly discovered continent

Village growth through assigning various jobs to Vikings such as farming and sailing

Ability to choose between six distinct Viking clans
