NYCC 2014: Marvel’s Daredevil is Back in Black on Netflix

Since last fall, we’ve known that Charlie Cox would be picking up the trademark billy clubs in “Marvel’s Daredevil,” but now we’ve got your first look at Man Without Fear from Netflix’s new show.

Along with the first image of Cox as Murdock below, you can see the concept art for Matt’s first costume, inspired by Frank Miller and John Romita, Jr.’s seminal DAREDEVIL: MAN WITHOUT FEAR series, widely considered to be one of the most important and influential Daredevil stories of all time. The show’s very first footage was reportedly shown off to the convention’s lucky guests earlier this weekend at the New York City Comic Con as part of the biggest news out of the show floor thus far.

The series debuts on Netflix next year and stars Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, a “young woman who’s quest for justice sends her crashing into Murdock’s life. The show also stars Vincent D’Onofrio as Murdock’s arch-nemesis, Wilson Fisk/Kingpin; Elden Nelson as Murdock’s longtime lawyer and friend, Foggy Nelson; Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, a nurse and one of Murdock’s allies; and Scott Glenn as Stick, a mysterious sensei and Murdock’s mentor.

Take a look at the first photos from the series below followed by the original image by Romita, Jr. that inspired Matt’s costume.

“Marvel’s Daredevil” follows the journey of Matt Murdock, who was blinded as a young boy but imbued with extraordinary senses, now fighting against injustice by day as a lawyer, and by night as the super hero Daredevil in modern day Hell’s Kitchen, New York City.

Marvel’s first original series on Netflix is Executive Produced by Buffy the Vampire Slayer‘s Steven S. DeKnight (Spartacus, Angel) and Drew Goddard (Cabin in the Woods, Lost) in addition to writing the first two episodes of Marvel’s Daredevil, along with Marvel TV’s Jeph Loeb (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.Smallville, Heroes).

“Marvel’s Daredevil” is produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios with its complete first season to be uploaded onto the streaming service May, 2015.
