Oddworld: Soulstorm Endings Guide

Everything you need to know!

Oddworld: Soulstorm endings

Oddworld: Soulstorm is the latest successor to the historical Oddworld saga. The game, developed by Oddworld Inhabitants, was last month free to download for all PlayStation Plus subscribers. Take note that the story is a sort of remake of the classic Abe’s Exoddus. However, it radically changes its narrative developments. The title therefore arises as a sequel to New ‘n’ Tasty. From the point of view of gameplay, the game keeps the 3D sliding platform nature, returning to the player the same mood of the historical titles but with graphics updated to 2021. The aim remains to save the Mudokons. Here is my Oddworld: Soulstorm endings guide!

SAVE THE MUDOKON

As mentioned, the aim of the game is to save your fellow Mudokon from the clutches of the evil Glukkon who want to exploit them and discover the secret of the Soulstorm drink. Take note that the Mudokon are the same species to which Abe belongs to. They have updated the game’s graphics, making everything more realistic and less stylized, thus increasing the drama of the events.

Oddworld Inhabitants have also introduced some changes in the game compared to the previous chapters. Additions such as the inventory and the crafting system give an extra playful depth to the title. So let’s now find out how to unlock all endings within Oddworld: Soulstorm.

WARNING! SMALL SPOILERS

Before starting with reading further, I warn you that you may encounter small spoilers on some aspects of the game, such as the number of levels. In case you have not completed the game, I advise you to postpone the reading to a later time. The second premise concerns how to complete the game.

Since they link the various endings to certain levels of completion percentages, I must say that it is unnecessary to free all the Mudokons in each level. However, the more creatures you release, the higher your level rating will be. In Oddworld: Soulstorm, they call this statistic Quarma.

QUARMA SYSTEM

As mentioned, the Quarma is the system that shows the percentage of completion of the level. At the end of the day, this basically means that the more Mudokons saved, the higher the percentage. At the end of each level, the game will give you the relative value. In Oddworld: Soulstorm, there are 15 levels at the beginning. However, depending on certain conditions, 2 more levels will be unlocked, for a total of 17 levels.

The Quarma system, in this, is also a way for Oddworld Inhabitants to give the title a certain replay value. In fact, depending on the ending you want to get, you will use different game strategies at each level. Take note that within each level you will have two chances to free the Mudokons. The first is to trigger certain scripted sequences, as a result of which your companions will flee guided by the AI.

In these sequences, your goal will be to attract the attention of the enemies who, alternatively, will do target practice on the Mudokons. The second way is to indirectly take control of small groups of Mudokon that will follow you wherever you go. This is the same as the game mechanics seen, for example in Inside. Here, you will have to guide them to safe places to open the Portals that will make them escape for good.

DIFFERENT ENDINGS

Here are the percentages and related levels needed to unlock all of the Oddworld: Soulstorm endings. As you can see, there are a total of four endings. Depending on how many Mudokons you free, you will get endings ranging from the worst to the best.

REPLAY THE LEVELS

If you haven’t reached the goal on a certain level, don’t despair. There will be no need to play Oddworld Inhabitants’ game over again. Just go to the main menu and replay the levels, choosing from the completed ones. On the one hand, this will allow you to discover new secrets. On the other hand, it will definitely improve your completion rates. Remember, however, to finish the level you are in, because if you exit Oddworld: Soulstorm while replaying a level, you will lose its progress.
