Orion Pictures Returns After 15 Years

<p>If you go back and watch such classic films as <em><strong>Robocop<&sol;strong><&sol;em>&comma; <em><strong>The Terminator<&sol;strong> <&sol;em>and <em><strong>Silence of the Lambs<&sol;strong><&sol;em>&comma; you&&num;8217&semi;ll notice a title card in the opening for <strong>Orion Pictures<&sol;strong>&period; That company since when bankrupt and last released a film in 1999&period; Now the <strong>Orion Pictures<&sol;strong> logo is returning for the first time in 15 years with a new horror movie&period; The film will be titled <em><strong>The Town That Dreaded Sundown<&sol;strong><&sol;em> directed by <strong>Alfonso Gomez-Rejon<&sol;strong> best known for <em><strong>American Horror Story<&sol;strong><&sol;em> to be released on <strong>October 16<&sol;strong>&period; Check out the press release&sol;news on Orion below&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<blockquote><p>MGM brought back the Orion label as a television brand in 2013&comma; which is currently used on syndicated court show &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;Paternity Court&period;” With no staff assigned to the label&comma; MGM intends to use the venerable indie name Orion as an international brand for smaller releases on VOD and limited theatrical&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;Town” is released under BH Tilt&comma; a recently-created multiplatform label from Blumhouse Productions&period; MGM does not have any specific future plans for the Orion Pictures name&period;<&sol;p><&sol;blockquote>&NewLine;<p>Okay&comma; so maybe it&&num;8217&semi;s not a complete return to form and more just a name-use thing&period; But it&&num;8217&semi;s still impressive that the name is still around after all these years to remind of us of how influencing the name was in the 80&&num;8217&semi;s&sol;90&&num;8217&semi;s&period; It may not seem like a big deal as it&&num;8217&semi;s more of a nostalgic trip&comma; but one can still dream that studio will return&comma; right&quest;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Source&colon; <a href&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;variety&period;com&sol;2014&sol;film&sol;news&sol;orion-pictures-label-returns-for-first-time-in-15-years-1201304184&sol;">Variety<&sol;a><&sol;p>&NewLine;
