Recently speaking to both Edge and Gamasutra, some game developers for the recently released Ouya console have shared their sales figures.

The console launched June 25th at retail, so keep in mind that the console has been on the market for nearly a month now…

TowerFall, arguably the most popular title on the Ouya console, was developed by Matt Thorson who has stated that the game has sold well, shifting 2000 units at $15 each (that’s $30,000 before Ouya fees, Math-Fans!) and said:
“Sales have been surprisingly high for a new game on a new console. The game has definitely proven itself on Ouya, I think there’s enough demand to warrant bringing it to PC.”

NimbleBit, who developed Nimble Quest, have had their title downloaded a total of 6,508 times although it was only purchased 122 times (keep in mind that with Ouya, all games feature a trial or demo, with no purchase necessary), this has generated a total of $427 profit. The co-founder of NimbleBit, David Marsh said:
“It’s probably not going to be a huge source of income compared to other platforms, but it’s dead easy to submit a game and get it into the store. It’s the only console right now with a truly open store, which makes it interesting and worth supporting if you want to see more open platforms. It’s also a great device to have just to check out all sorts of neat experimental multiplayer games that are already popping up. I think it’s a step in the right direction.”

Other developers also spoke out in regards to sales figures with Knife Media (developers of twin-stick shooter ‘Red’) saying that they broke even within two and a half weeks.
