It looks like PAC-MAN took a little longer in planning his trip over to the United Kingdom as his newest game, PAC-MAN and the Ghostly Adventures launched today for retailers in the UK. The games is a kind of modern makeover for PAC-MAN as the game is being launched alongside his new television series of the same name and looks to get a younger generation introduced to Namco’s longtime mascot.
PAC-MAN and the Ghostly Adventures is an action 3D platformer. It keeps the traditional PAC-MAN eating blue ghosts routine but adding a twist to it in the form of new Netherworld ghosts that he will have to fight. The game also adds a new set of power-ups for the yellow muncher in the form of Power Berries that can give him the ability to burn of freeze ghosts, bounce around like a rubber ball, spin through levels as a top, or even barrel through enemies as a giant granite boulder. The powerups change the way players can approach the games platforming and can even help them through levels if they use the power-ups in a certain way. The game even has a separate multiplayer mode where players can play as the original ghosts, Inky, Blinky, Pinky, and Clyde, to try and catch PAC-MAN themselves.
The game is now available now in the UK for Xbox 360, PS3, Steam, and Wii U. There is also a 2d version of the game available for 3DS.
