Nestled in the Indie MEGABOOTH was Amplitude Studios as they were showing off Endless Dungeon and Dungeon of the Endless. The latter plays like a rogue-like dungeon defense game where players will be able to explore an infinite number of dungeons in an attempt to reach the Earth’s surface.
At first, the game feels too complicated but once you break the gameplay down to a dungeon defense game, the mechanics and steps become less overwhelming. Inspired by FTL, Dungeon of the Endless was summed nicely by Stepahie Yath as a “door-based” game. Players will never know what is behind each door and must be ready to deal with various scenarios such as aliens attacking upon entrance.
As a turn-based game with twelve levels, a player can control up to 4 heroes. Other heroes can be found and added to your squad but only four can used at one time. Some of the heroes include a female Scout who is very quick, Tank is a slow character but powerful and armed with guns, and a Tech who is good as boosting modules. In total, the game will feature 20 playable characters. A this time there is no way to upgrade their looks through a skin system but items can be found along the way to boost characters.
Dungeon of the Endless is in Early Access on Steam and will be available on the Xbox One in 2015.
