PAX Prime 2014: Lichdom: Battlemage, no longer a glass cannon

Xaviant Games from Atlanta, GA are making a name for themselves by launching a game where the mage is “a total badass”. No longer referred to as a glass cannon, Lichdom: Battlemage is a first person caster which showcases how a mage should truly act. No mana bars or cool downs in Lichdom, instead players will have constant magical powers to defeat a wide range of enemies.

We first got a look at Lichdom prior to PAX East back in early March. In the five to six months in which the game was in Early Access, the team has been juggling the act of listening to community feedback as well as adding in the necessary polish which they felt the game would need. This balancing act culminated when they officially launched the game a few days ago on August 26.

What was shown on the floor today was a realization of those efforts. The game has a much more streamlined user interface, a more vibrant and detailed look compared to other builds, and a deeper spell crafting system which allows for players to attack their enemies in many different ways.

We’re curious to see how the public responds to Lichdom: Battlemage as it’s a brand new title which focuses exclusively on one type of character. Does the gaming community have an appetite for a somewhat limited experience, at a $4o price point. We have enjoyed what we feel is a strong debut release with an interesting, yet singular experience.
