PAX Prime 2014: Sierra Rises Again With Geometry Wars 3 Dimensions

Activision has propped up the Sierra label to be a digital-arm inside of the corporation best known for annualizing titles such as Call of Duty and Skylanders. Now with Sierra back on their feet and with full support inside the company, they’re working with Lucid Games, who are comprised of former Bizarre employees, to bring a new Geometry Wars to the fold.

Many firsts exist for Geometry Wars this time around. The game is now using 3D visuals, has a starred system per level, and will include online multiplayer. No online gameplay was shown at PAX Prime today but this appears to be a big win for the team and something they’re still working through the ideas on.

Fans of the franchise shouldn’t worry though as there are plenty of original elements left in the game which be recognizable. While Geometry Wars 3 Dimensions looks different and has a few new wrinkles, it still plays the classic GeoWars series.

Geometry Wars 3 will be released on current and next-gen systems as well as PC. Lucid Games and Sierra look to release this title before 2o15.

Geometry Wars 3 Dimensions is available to play for all show attendees at Booth N3 (located on the 4th Floor Lobby, outside of the Main Hall). Fans will be able to play each day, and compete with other players to reach the top of their daily leaderboard.
