In a livestream presentation on Nico Nico, Atlus provided Japanese fans of the Persona series a release date for the next entry in the series. On September 15th, 2016, Japan will see Persona 5 hit store shelves and digitally. The Atlus RPG still waits for a global release date. You can watch the gameplay trailer above.
It would be reasonable to expect Sony to make the announcement at their E3 conference for Persona 5 and when it will be released outside of Japan. Persona 5 is being released exclusively for PS3 and PS4, which makes it prime for Sony to announce the release date. However, Atlus is also prone to just doing things on their own schedule, so we might see a release date announced separate from Sony’s conference. None of the previous announcements were really timed with any specific conference, with the exception of the Tokyo Game Show.
Persona 5 is the long-awaited sequel in the esteemed Persona franchise. Catherine was the last notable console release from Atlus, with Persona 5 being their second and probably last PS3 release, and first foray onto the PS4. The Persona series has always been late to a console’s lifespan though as Persona 3 and Persona 4 were released for PS2 after the PS3 was already widely available.
