Atlus hasn’t exactly been known for doing localizations of games that retain the original language. While other companies sometimes give the option to switch between Japanese or English for dialogue audio and text, and some companies force players to have Japanese audio with English text, Atlus tends to force players into only having English audio and text. So it comes as no surprise that the localized version of Persona 5 will be arriving on Valentine’s Day in 2017 without any remnants of Japanese voice-over.

With that being said, the Persona series has almost always had an excellent voice cast for its English releases. It is just unfortunate for a game series that is this rooted in Japanese culture to refuse to include the Japanese language. However, it seems the streak of great casting for its localized release will persist as Cassandra Lee Morris has teased that she will be voicing Morgana from Persona 5.

Persona 5 was recently announced to not be coming to North America until February 14th, 2017. It will release for PS4 and PS3, with several collector’s editions coming out including the “Take Your Heart” edition, which will be exclusive to the PS4. Persona 5 will be out in Japan on September 15th, 2017, so if you can’t wait and desperately want Japanese voice-over then I would recommend considering importing the game.
