Play as Aloy in Monster Hunter World, Beta Begins December 9th for PS4

One of the most anticipated games of 2018 is coming very early on in the year, and Capcom has some good news for PlayStation 4 Monster Hunter fans. Monster Hunter World is releasing on January 26, 2018 for the PS4 and Xbox One, with a PC release to follow.

There will be an open beta for PS4 players starting on December 9th, so all players will be able to see what 3DS fans have been eating up for the last number of years. It should be noted that it is not known if there will be an Xbox One or PC beta, Capcom has still only said that the PS4 beta starts on December 9th. The beta for Monster Hunter World will consist of three quests, and can be played co-operatively online, or solo offline. The quests will feature the Barroth in the Wildspire Wastes, as well as the Great Jagras and Anjanath in the Ancient Forest Area.  Presumably there will be plenty of gear options for players to figure out what style of play works best for them.

Another special treat for PlayStation users is the ability to dress up as Aloy from Horizon: Zero Dawn, and there is even a special outfit for your Palico with a Horizon theme as well. This is nothing new for Monster Hunter fans, as the game has been known to have costumes for Palico and armor sets for characters as well. The Link armor set and Master Sword made an appearance in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. Additionally you were able to dress up your Palicos in Mario and Luigi outfits, which even would equip them with the classic Hammer from Donkey Kong. It isn’t known if there will be any Halo or Fable themed treats for the Xbox One users, but hopefully Capcom gives Xbox players something cool for their version of the game.

Capcom is about to bring monster hunting goodness to current-gen consoles for the first time in a long time, and things look pretty good so far. Monster Hunter World is looking fantastic, and will likely be the first big game of 2018. Are you a Monster Hunter fan, and looking forward to being able to play on your PS4, Xbox One or PC?
