Player Finds New Infinite 1-UP Trick in Super Mario Bros.

Most gamers will know about the classic infinite 1- UP trick in Super Mario Bros. for the NES. Yet somehow someone has found a brand new infinite lives trick, 29 years after the game released. Given the obscure requirements for this cheat to work, that might not be too much of a surprise. The trick can only occur during the game’s two player mode on new game +.  Player one and two must both die in specific places in order to glitch one of the game’s growing vines, allowing one of them to generate infinite lives from two buzzy beetle enemies. You can check out the trick in the video above and also read Retrogamer’s explanation.

First, you must first take player one’s Mario to the second level of the game and throw away your first life. With Luigi taking over, player two must traverse all the way to World 5-2 and find the hidden beanstalk block halfway through the stage. Once there, Luigi must start climbing the vines, however, he must await – and take on the chin – an incoming projectile from one of the Hammer Bros. Upon being hit, once player one resumes control of Mario, the beanstalk from World 5-2 will start growing in World 1-2, providing all you need to infinitely kick shells for unlimited bonuses.
