Following the recent news that production of the PlayStation 2 console had ceased in Japan, Sony has now confirmed that the situation is not exclusive to Japan but that production of the console has ceased worldwide.
Launched in 2000, the PlayStation 2 has since gone on to become one of the longest-running and most successful consoles of all time, selling over 150 million units worldwide and offering a game library of over 10,000 titles.
The PlayStation 2 featured a number of critically acclaimed exclusive games such as Final Fantasy XII, Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, and Shadow of the Colossus.
