While speaking to Eurogamer about their newly announced PlayStation 4, Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida confirmed a couple of things that many have been concerned with; specifically about used games and the necessity of being online. Considering this patent that we reported on last month, it seemed as though a next-gen system that blocked used games was becoming more and more likely. Yoshida, however, confirmed quite the opposite:

“So, used games can play on PS4. How is that?” he said to Eurogamer.

Continuing on from that, the possibility of an always online PlayStation 4 was addressed, with Yoshida stating that, although it may be a good idea to keep the system connected anyway, due to it having a low-power mode where it can still download/update, you can still go completely offline.

“Social is big for us, but we understand there are some people who are anti-social! So if you don’t want to connect to anyone else, you can do that.”

Options are nice. People like options.
