PlayStation App Coming to iOS/Andoid Devices Alongside PS4 Launch

<p>A new PlayStation App will be available for download on iOS and Android devices when the PlayStation 4 launches next month&comma; <a href&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;blog&period;us&period;playstation&period;com&sol;2013&sol;10&sol;03&sol;playstation-app-detailed-by-shuhei-yoshida&sol;">Sony has announced<&sol;a>&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The device&comma; which will be free&comma; allows users to stay in touch with the people on their friends&&num;8217&semi; list&comma; compare Trophies and see what friends are up to while they&&num;8217&semi;re online&period; The PlayStation Blog will also be accessible via the app&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>When approached by the PlayStation Blog to discuss the app&comma; Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida had the following to say&colon;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;There are a variety of things you can do with it&period; You can connect to your PlayStation profile and send messages — even voice messages — to friends between your smartphone and PS4&period; A friend on PS4 can also send out an invitation for a multiplayer game&comma; which you can then check on the App&comma; and you can also purchase PS4 games from PlayStation Store&period; Your game will immediately start downloading while you’re away&period;”<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The app will also support second screen gameplay for specific titles&period; One example given was when Yoshida&comma; during the Sony TGS event&comma; drew a picture of <em>Knack<&sol;em> &lpar;from the PS4 launch title of the same name&rpar; on his phone&&num;8217&semi;s touchscreen and then pushed it to his PS4 that was running <em>The Playroom<&sol;em> and the bot characters began to interact with it&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>More details regarding the PlayStation App are set to be shared as we get closer to launch&comma; but for now&comma; this seems like something I&&num;8217&semi;ll use with my PS4 system&period; Let&&num;8217&semi;s hope it&&num;8217&semi;s compatible with both smartphone and tablets&comma; because I can never get enough use out of my iPad&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
