Pokémon: The Origin – A Missed Opportunity?

<p>For those of you who haven&&num;8217&semi;t heard already&comma; there&&num;8217&semi;s a new <em>Pokémon<&sol;em> anime TV special on the way based on the original games&semi; <em>Pocket Monsters Red &amp&semi; Green<&sol;em>&period; You might be scratching your head over this&comma; considering the original <em>Pokémon<&sol;em> anime was also based on those games&period; The adventures of Ash Ketchum many of us grew up with isn&&num;8217&semi;t the most direct adaptation of the video game series though&period; <em>Pocket Monsters&colon; The Origin<&sol;em> uses the original characters&comma; stays true to the art style of the games&comma; and you know what&quest; It looks pretty awesome&period; Check out the Japanese preview video embedded above&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><span style&equals;"line-height&colon; 1&period;5em&semi;">Before you get too excited&&num;8230&semi; you should remember it&&num;8217&semi;s just a special&comma; unfortunately meaning this is a one-off affair&period; That said&comma; what if it wasn&&num;8217&semi;t&quest; What if this was a brand new&comma; full-blown anime series&quest; Is a <&sol;span><a style&equals;"line-height&colon; 1&period;5em&semi;" href&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;bulbapedia&period;bulbagarden&period;net&sol;wiki&sol;Pok&percnt;C3&percnt;A9mon&lowbar;Adventures"><em>Pokémon Special<&sol;em><&sol;a><span style&equals;"line-height&colon; 1&period;5em&semi;">-style anime exactly what the older fans want&quest; Or would it just hurt the original anime series&comma; currently trucking along towards episode 800&quest;<&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><em>Pocket Monsters&colon; The Origin<&sol;em> airs on TV Tokyo in Japan on October 2nd&period; One more interesting tidbit courtesy of the <a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;twitter&period;com&sol;Pokemon&lowbar;cojp&sol;status&sol;373369545689276416">Japanese Pokémon twitter feed<&sol;a> &&num;8212&semi;  the anime features <a href&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;en&period;wikipedia&period;org&sol;wiki&sol;Junko&lowbar;Takeuchi">Junko Takeuchi<&sol;a> &lpar;the voice of Naruto Uzumaki&rpar; as protagonist Red&comma; and Dr&period; Okido &lpar;Professor Oak to you and me&rpar; will be voiced by <a href&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;en&period;wikipedia&period;org&sol;wiki&sol;Katsuji&lowbar;Mori">Katsuji Mori<&sol;a>&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Disappointed this is only a one-episode deal&quest; Or would a full series be overkill&quest;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
