Pokemon is taking over the 3DS eShop with releases for Pokemon Picross and Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow, all announced at yesterday’s Nintendo Direct event.

Pokemon Picross takes the classic nonogram puzzle game Picross and layers in classic Pokemon, allowing the player to “capture” Pokemon by completing the puzzle and unlocking the Pokemon picture beneath. Captured Pokemon can then help the player with special abilities in later challenges.

The classic Pokemon games, Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow, will be coming to the 3DS in their original form. The team at Nintendo made a point of stating that the games would remain preserved in their initial form. The only significant difference will be that players can now trade and battle with other players over wifi, as opposed to the old gameboy cable link.

Pokemon Picross will launch on the 3DS in early December 2015, and Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow will launch on the 3DS on February 27th, 2016, the 20th anniversary of the launch of Pokemon Red and Blue in Japan.
