Price Drop of Nintendo 2DS Revealed

Nintendo 2DS

Beginning May 20th, Nintendo is dropping the suggested retail price of Nintendo 2DS systems.

From the original price of $99.99, the 2DS hand-console will be dropped down to $79.99. Some of the new 2DS systems will have Mario Kart 7 pre-installed! In the press release, Nintendo states: “Some systems even come pre-installed with the universally popular Mario Kart 7 racing game, making the new value price even more appealing for parents who are looking for an entry-level gaming system for their young gamers.” The emphasis on the Nintendo 2DS and the new price point is to encourage parents to purchase it for their children. But don’t let that stop you from picking up a cheaper option to the 3DS for yourself.

The 2DS lacks the 3D capability and the clam shell design which lowers the price. However, the 2DS does play the regular 3DS games and most DS and Dsi games. Photos and videos can be recorded on the 2DS and it still is Wifi capable so owners have access to the large eShop library and play online. Nintendo’s 2DS suggested retail price drop goes into effect May 20th and not every console will come with Mario Kart 7, only the specially marked boxes.
