The 4.50 firmware update is coming to the PlayStation 3 soon, and with it, auto-downloading of system and software updates will be open to all PlayStation Network members.

Prior to now, auto-downloads were only for paying PlayStation Plus members, but with this new update, even the non-paying/free members can enjoy the feature. In addition, new trophy settings will allow users to make specific trophies visible and data can now be transferred from PS3 to Vita via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet Connection.

So, check your PS3 or PSN sometime later today (or this evening) when the update is said to hit.
