PS3 VITA Cross Platform Play

We all know Nintendo has their WiiU GamePad, which you can say has some similar tablet features. Microsoft now has their SmartGlass feature, this will allow you to transfer in game data to your tablet or Smartphone device to give you more detailed information. So what does Sony have?

Well, Sony would say that the VITA in its own way has similar features. We all know they are pushing the idea of the VITA working as a second controller in some first party games. At E3 this year, if you looked really hard on the show floor, you would have come across a LittleBigPlanet demo which was using the features of the VITA to play the game.

Scott Rohde had this to say when asked.

“That Wii U tablet doesn’t have a processor in it, so it’s got to be fuelled by that box sitting under your TV.

We can do some pretty special things that you’ll start to see on the [E3] floor this year and you’ll see more over the upcoming months about what you can do when you actually have a processor in the thing that’s in your hand as well.”

The PlayStation VITA still has a long road ahead of itself if it can be considered a success like its predecessor the PSP. One of the advantages of the Wii U is that it ships with the GamePad. The VITA and PS3 are currently sold separately. Perhaps Sony will announce a bundle over the coming weeks. They will be attending TGS this year so stay tuned for more info there.
