When Sony announced the PlayStation 4 yesterday, many fans were disappointed but understanding that the console will not be backwards compatible with bought PlayStation 3 titles even though Sony did suggest that they will be adding backwards compatibility in the form of cloud-streaming for a select quantity of old games spanning from the original PlayStation to the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3.
But what about all of that digital content you’ve purchased and tied to your PSN account over the years though? With PlayStation pushing a digital library of video games, DLC, movies etc onto gamers you can surly just port that over to your new console right? Wrong.
Speaking Endgadget earlier today, Shuhei Yoshida said that you will not be able to transfer your saved game data and library of PSN games to your new console.
Obviously, this will impact consumers decisions of what to do with their current PlayStation 3 console. Although it is irritating having to hold onto a console, after all it could help put down a large deposit to the new console, it looks like you have no choice if you want to enjoy all of your digital content and retail games.
