With 5 days left to go, Double Fine has succeeded in receiving fan-backed funding for Psychonauts 2 on fig.
Tim Schafer and his team at Double Fine celebrated the $3.3 million goal being reached on Wednesday through YouTube. Schafer says to the studio’s fans, “Thank you to all of you because it means so much [with] your support and all the love you have been sending us.”
The campaign isn’t over yet though. The studio is still looking for more funding because, says Schafer, “Every dollar [they] make goes into making the game better, giving us more time to polish and make the game great because we don’t want to just make Psychonauts 2. We want to make an amazing amazing Psychonauts 2.”
Psychonauts 2 continues the story of Raz, who at the end of the first game, realizes his dream and visits Psychonauts Headquarters, but everything is not well. It seems as though Raz is needed more for the Psychonauts Headquarters than he needs them. Double Fine have said in the fig crowdfunding campaign that “Raz will hone his secret agent PSI-abilities- and learn new ones too- using them to solve mystries and uncover evil plots.”
Double Fine has previously successfully crowdfunded Broken Age and Massive Chalice. Psychonauts 2 is the third game to be crowdfunded for Double Fine. If you want to pledge towards the Psychonauts 2 fig campaign, you still have until January 12th at 2PM to do so.
