Psyonix Teases New Mode For Rocket League

If you thought cars nudging a soccer ball into a net was a ridiculous idea, just wait until you hear what the hugely successful Rocket League has planned next. A tweet from the official Rocket League account announced that a new basketball-themed mode would be coming to the, uh, racing/sports/arcade game.

As mentioned in the tweet, the new Hoops mode is being made to, hopefully, coincide with March Madness.

The image suggests that some new tactics will be needed to defeat opponents when Psyonix releases the new mode. The basketball net appears to be just as wide as the net in the main game, but the major difference here is that it’s only open from the top–that’s how basketball nets work. It’s going to take a little extra thumb-maneuvering to ensure the ball is airborne before knocking it into the net. Perhaps I won’t be able play my dirty trick on the CPU by aiming for the goal immediately after the whistle is blown.

Rocket League originally released on PlayStation 4 last summer as part of a PlayStation Plus lineup. The game released on February 17th for the Xbox One. Let’s hope that the new mode is free for both console versions.
